The First of Many to Come.

These past few weeks of being a part of the ISM program have been pretty eye opening on the realities of careers that we may want to pursue. This week I spent a lot of time reflecting on the basis that I have built my career interest on. This thinking stemmed from working on my topic proposal and really made me think about why I want to pursue a career in the field of public policy. Throughout my educational career, I’ve always been all over the place in regards to my professional career choice. I would, in all honesty, change my mind constantly, and every time I felt as though I had finally found the one thing I would be passionate about for the rest of my life, some being the medical field and the nonprofit realm. Soon enough, I became self aware and tried to understand the common ground of these temporary interests. It all came down to public service. Even when I was interested in something else career-wise and pursuing opportunities for the respective topic, coming home and catching up on the political news I had missed during the day is what I truly looked forward to. It was nice to think back to this and further solidify my choice. Next week I plan on learning more about different careers within the field.
